1998 Vauxhall Vectra

does the engine management light come on with key in the start position (not cranking) ?? if not, could be a faulty PCM (computer) ..have the vehicle plugged into a diagnostic computer .. the light will not stay ON to indicate a fault untill the car is actually running !!

NO light at all could be a faulty PCM/ECU (computer) or bad/broken wires to the PCM/ECU it will need to be plugged into a diagnostic computer to see if it can communicate .. and if there are any fault codes !!

hi thanks for your reply befor i had this prob when i put the ignision on there was the engin management light on dash the car would start now i dont get light on dash now car wont start what can this be its been on a dio but showed nothing can you help pl

Did the diagnostic computer link to the car and show NO faults ? .. or did it show no communication ...also could you check if you are getting a spark and fuel at spark plugs (check for spark and pull a plug after cranking to check if it has fuel on it) ?

thanks for getting back to me the dio could not conect as there is no light on engine managment light on dash car was running fine till i parked in up for 10 mins then could not start it after that

I would start by checking you are getting power (live feed) and a good earth/ground to the ECU (computer) .. it could be a bad wiring connection/bad wire or it could be the computer has gone bad ... I do not have a wiring diagram for this vehicle .. your local library or autoparts store will be able to supply a repair manual (haynes etc.)with wiring diagrams ..
