Large knocking noises starts coming from the back when I go over a hump(or dips on roads) or when I have passengers at the back. I serviced the car and I was told by the mechanic that the rear shock absorbers were gone so I replaced them with brand new ones. But the noise still happens. Help. My car is Vaxhall corsa GLS, 1999, 973cc, 52320 mileage. Thanks

Possibly a CV (constant velocity) joint and boot. Common in Vauxhall Corsa's and Vectra's.
When turning a corner the outside wheel should turn slightly faster than the inside wheel - in order to keep a reduced turning circle. When the CV joint splits, opr the CV boot loses lubricant, the wheels cannot turn at slightly different speeds, so there is an alarming knocking sound. Costs about  100 for a single part with boot and lubricant and fitting.
