Battery light came on?

My battery light came on now my car wont start recovery jump started it went for a while now its gone again he said I need to replace the battery but I think its the altenator please help

Hello,

It might be a good idea to test you alternator. If you put a new battery then after a little while the car stalls and won't start backup without a jump, there is a good chance of a bad alternator.
