Engine Performance problem
1996 Vauxhall Corsa Manual
My partner has a 1996 vauxhall corsa. Recently the oil light came on during a long journey but went off again. It comes back on intermittently and sometimes it can be days before it comes back on.
He has started noticing oil patches on the floor after moving the car in a morning, only small patches but definately black oil.
He is avoiding taking it to the garage as we have little money at the moment. Do you have any idea what could be wrong and how much it might cost so we can get some money together?

Try to locate exactly where the leak is coming from .. especially check around the oil pressure switch, which is located at the front top left of engine (your local library or autoparts store will supply a repair manual with diagrams and repair instructions) this is a common leak point on the corsa and a cheap (around £10 for part) and easy DIY bolt off/bolt on repair.
