Hi, one morning my car just didn’t turn over. I hadn’t left anything on over night and the lights and stereo still work fine. My brother kindly jump-started it for me and it ran ok, until I turned the engine off, and then it wouldn’t turn over again. I had left it running for about half an hour so plenty of time to charge. I have checked all the cables and seems to be no loose connections. Is this an alternator problem as I expect, or could it still be down to a duff battery? Many thanks for your response.

I suspect the battery is a duffer and is not holding the charge rather than your alternator. Have battery checked for voltage dropping. A fully charged battery should continue to hold 12.5 volts with no dropping
