2004 Vauxhall Astra Door locks

By mistake turn the locking mechanism on the rear door on, instead of turning the child lock switch. Now the door is locked open and the door will not close. What can i do to get the door to close?

get a screwdriver behind locking bar on door lock and pull back while also pulling on door handle .. the locking bar should spring back into place

this happened to my husbands car - just pull the door handle from the inside and the door should close.
