I power washed my engine after I did a radiator flush and now it is making a loud rattling noise somewhere in the front of the engine. What could it be?

Hi,

Did this start right after power washing the engine? If it is coming from the front of the engine, check to see if any of the belt-driven accessories are loose or causing the sound. Also, if you remove the serpentine belt and start the engine briefly, is the sound gone?

Let me know. Only run it for a few seconds if you remove the belt. Only run it long enough to see if the sound is gone.

Also, if you can record it and upload it for me to hear, I may recognize the noise. Let me know the engine size as well.

Take care,

Joe

Thank you for responding. It happened after I power washed it. Although I got to take it for a ride to see if the noise would go away and it did surprisingly. :) So, thank you very much anyways for responding:)

Hi,

Thanks for the update. That's good news. I'm glad it stopped making the noise.

Regardless, be careful when power washing the engine bay. You would be amazed how many things can go wrong.

Take care and feel free to come back anytime in the future.

Joe
