A few months ago, it coded as the turbo it was running just fine no decrease in power, so my brother-in-law cleared the code. It never came back on using the automatic start button and came out to it expelling a lot of exhaust out of muffler. It was just puttering when restarting and smelt of burp plastic has been tried to start it to see what was going on one time it started. Ran just fine the second time a week later it is again just puttering. I know there were a lot of articles on how the seal may be bad or piston rings.

Hello,

Your vehicle is based on the Chevrolet Trax. It is fitted with the GM 1.4 turbo engine, A14NET(LUJ) Ecotec

The first thing to check if there is excessive oil in the intake system. Suggest to remove the intake pipe from the inlet manifold/throttle body. Check if there is excessive oil in the pipe. If yes, then suspect possible turbo or PCV (positive crank case) ventilation issues. If not, the next check will be to remove the spark plugs and check for any oil on the spark plug tips.

How to access spark plugs:

Information on the PCV system and intake manifold:

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Boris
