We occasionally go on trips longer than 60 days, up to 90 days.
I'd like to trickle charge the battery on the car listed above.
Since this car has the accessory battery as part of the hybrid battery, how do I connect a trickle charger up to this car?
Also, do I need a special trickle charger (ie: AGM)?
There is nothing online or in the manual that addresses this. Details explaining how to do this would be very appreciated.

Hello,

You can trickle charge the 12V battery.
You can use any good quality trickle charger. I personally have very good experience with CTEK trickle charger.

Let me know of any questions.
Thank you.

Can you tell me what/where to connect the trickle charger up to? I don't see a positive or negative battery pole under the hood.

The trickle charger needs to be attached to the 12V starting battery. It should be located in the trunk. Since this is a 2022 Alldata does not have the diagrams available just yet. If you refer to your owner's manual it should show you the location.

Actually, from what I read online and talked to other people the battery is under the seat and "part of" the hybrid battery so not easy to get to. I was just hoping you had more current info.

I was able to find the diagram of the battery. And yes, as you stated it is part of the hybrid battery system and yes you cannot put a trickle charger on it.
You might want to contact your local Hyundai dealer and see if they have any trick or suggestion for this new type of Hybrid.

That's the problem. I've called no less than 10 Hyundai service centers in my state and hear varying statements from "I'm not sure" to "I assume" to "You can't do that" and the list goes on with no definitive answer. Emails to Hyundai corporate are useless as they always point me back to the local dealership. This should be a question that Hyundai should be able to answer. Lots of people store their cars (second vacation homes, long trips) for months at a time.

Interestingly there is just not enough information out there on the secondary market with all our database and catalogs due to the age of the vehicle. I would have thought that the Hyundai dealer or corporate could answer this type of technical question, since it is their vehicle.

As for trickle charging in general, yes, many people do it when a vehicle will be sitting for an extended period time to preserve the battery. I have done the same on rarely driven vehicles. But in order to do so you will have to have access to the battery.

I will do some more research to see if I can come up with an answer.
