I have the car listed above 2.0 EcoBoost titanium.
I was driving yesterday and a warning light came on saying Transmission limited function. I pulled over and turned car off and looked on internet and it said turn car off then on so I did and the warning light never came back on. I have drove it today it seemed okay. But as the warning light came on yesterday it doesn't come on for nothing so I need it checked. When I drive car and put it in reverse the car shudders a bit which feels like I'm pushing and releasing brake. Also when I'm sitting at traffic light with foot on brake, when I pull off it hesitates a bit before moving.

Hi,

This model isn't offered in the US, so my technical info is very limited. However, have you checked the transmission fluid level and condition? Also have you had the computer scanned to identify diagnostic trouble codes?

Here is a quick video that shows how to scan the computer:

https://youtu.be/YV3TRZwer8k

I realize most people don't own a scanner, but since the light was on, there should be diagnostic trouble codes stored in the system that will help point us in the right direction.

I have to be honest, this sound like you have a transmission speed sensor, for the input shaft, which is going bad, but the only thing we can do to be sure is check for codes..

Have that done and let me know the results.

Take care,
Joe

First thing we need to do is check for codes. If you have codes then we can chase that down. However, just from what you are describing it sounds like you have a possible valvebody or electrical issue.

Normally when a vehicle goes into limp in but does not do it repeatedly it was a sensor "glitch" and may never happen again. However, once it happens a second time, it is time to get serious about figuring it out because it is only going to get worse.

Let's start with the codes that could still be stored in the computer and we can go from there.

If you can't scan for codes, most parts stores can do it free of charge. Thanks

So if there are no codes, then the computer cleared them due to seeing the proper amount of "good" trips. This means it saw an issue and turned the light on. Then it makes normally 5 good trips and it clears the code because it is not seeing the same issue any more.

How often does the issue at the stop light that you described happen? Is that something that you can reproduce easily?

Have you checked the fluid level and condition? The shudder could be related to a pressure issue.

Let us know.
