Hi, my boy friend just replaced the water pump in my vehicle and now it will not shift past thirty five mph. I wanted to find out if it is possible something got disconnected somehow while he was changing it or if it is a coincidence and that transmission needs to be replaced?

I do not see anything in the water pump instructions that would affect the transmission.
Just because it does not shift does not always mean the entire transmission needs to be replaced.
I would start by checking the fluid level and if there are any trouble codes stored in the PCM or the TCM referring to the transmission.

When he did check the fluid it he said it was low to none. Does the truck have to be taken somewhere to get those codes?

Do you know what all the possible reasons for it not shifting past thirty five mph could be? I forgot to mention that it does that in overdrive but if shift to drive it runs better.

It could be a solenoid in the transmission causing it. Did he get the fluid back up to normal?
I believe places like Autozone, Advance auto, will retrieve those codes for free.
