Hello, I have a 41TE transmission and I am trying to do a rebuild, however I am still fairly new to cars, but I noticed that I may have a damaged accumulator in the transmission. I know it's never best to put broken parts back in but out of curiosity what would happen if I ran the transmission with this fault or maybe without the accumulator at all?

Hi,

If it's bad and you reuse it, shift timing will be off, and shift quality will be poor. When you say overhauling, are you taking the entire transmission apart to replace clutches and internal components, or is your focus the valve body?

Let me know. I have the directions for both.

Take care,

Joe
