I assume the sensor and wiring has been replaced? Please let me know what they have tried and found and we can go from there. Clearly we don't want to cover what they have ruled out. However, if they missed something or didn't do something, that is where we will start. Thanks

No, they have never been changed or replaced to the best of my knowledge The two mechanics only looked to replace a module in the steering wheel and had no luck.

Are you taking it to a VW specialist shop? This longitudinal sensor is not exclusive to VW but the testing is a little different than most other cars.

We don't actually have a manual for your vehicle but I am familiar with this repair and it is normally a sensor issue. If you look at this picture, that is normally what is found when you cut them open. All of that brown and blueish green growth is water intrusion.

Clearly you need to run through the wiring testing but we need to take it to someone familiar with VWs if you are not going to do it. If you are not familiar with this, I would not suggest attempting it on your own.
