My girlfriend is about to buy a 1999 Toyota Tacoma with 124,000 miles. According to the owner, it has been maintained well. Price is $3,700, which seems to be a little below blue book value.

My concern is with the future life of the vehicle -- have never driven a car beyond 130,000 miles. In terms of averages, any input would be welcome on how long a Tacoma can be driven with good mainentance.

HI there,

with all cars if they are maintained well they will last a long time, it is only when small problems are not addressed that bigger issues can take over, but with this in mind, things do fail, and there can be no indication sometimes that there is a problem, but there is a saying in the trade, look after the small things and the big things take care of themselves, so keep up the maintenance and fix any small problem before it turns into a big one, there are many older cars on the road that are safe and reliable, and Toyota make a good product so you are in front there already.
