My daughter is having starter problems with her old Toyota pickup truck. She has replaced the starter and the battery and had a diagnostic that just showed that she needed a tuneup. The truck will not turn over for several tries, but then occassionally it does and it will run until she has to turn it off. She is wondering if it could be a loose wire. Do you have any knowledge of this situation? Many thanks.

It is very frustrating after replacing parts and you still have the symptoms. You said that the diagnostic showed that she needed a new tune-up. Believe it or not, bad ignition can cause the symptom that you just described. This is what I recommend.

Every time starting problem exists, we always check for fuel and for spark. Once you check all, let us know so we can diagnose further.
