I drove 2600 miles after getting an oil change when my oil filter fell off. The day it fell off I drove 4 miles when my oil light went on and the engine started making high noises. I turned the car off and it never turned over again. When it was towed to the mechanic it had no oil filter. Could I have hit something continuously to cause it to jar off. I was driving in a construction zone for one month. Is this possible?

The effect was my engine seizing, I don't know the cause. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi there,

The oil filter was not tightened correctly when it was fitted, there is no way it should come loose, no matter how rough the road is.

If it was done up correctly it will never come loose, if it was not fully tightened it can slowly work loose and come off,
