Can anyone help me? When I drive my car at times it shuts off on me. It happens when I'm driving on the street but not on the highway. The rpm drops down to zero. The indicator is always below one. Today I was driving and my car shut off on me again, this time the rpm drops down to zero but when I press on the gas it really doesn't move. Unable to drive I had to leave my car parked. My check engine light is on. I just had an oil change as well as a tune up in the summer. Around three months ago my car overheated and I changed my thermostat. Although I changed it the temperature indicator rises and then I have to turn on the ac to have it cool down. I recently had my temperature sensor changed at the same time my thermostat was changed. I feel stuck and I don't know what to do. FYI: my car was parked up for like 8 months prior to all of this.

Do you know what it may be? A mechanic told me it was my idle motor

Scan the computer for OBD2 code/s and comeback with it

Check the fuel pressure and clean out the idle air control valve, test the throttle position sensor-

I've had this same issue. Someone turned a screw on my throttle and increased my idle RPM. On top of that, I stopped running the car under a quarter tank, changed the oil punctually, and used higher grade gasoline. I had an oil leak in my oil pan as well that would cause the problem to happen more often - this problem also was linked to an issue I had around 2100RPM, at 60-65mph - the car would vibrate a little bit and make an odd noise like a sort of rumble growl, once every second or so. The wheel would shake a little bit, and when this stuff happened I would know that when I slowed down off the highway I was to expect the engine to idle really hard and perhaps stall. It stalled only twice on me, hasnt happened since.
