2000 Toyota Sienna jerking and check engine light

today my 2000 sienna started jerking when i tried to pick up speed after stoping at a light. After getting on the freewaythe check engine light started blinking and would go away then come back. After a few mins the light stayed on and the van would mainly jerk when I tried to accelerate after stopping or would let go of the brake whey is this happening to my vehicle that hasnt had any problems and I have kept it maintained

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis,finding out what's going on.
