1997 Toyota Rav4 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual 131554 miles
The turn signals stopped working. I replaced the fuse and they worked for a few minutes then stopped twice. Will I have to get major repairs or can I fix it?

may be a faulty flasher relay, but if fuse blows when replacing it then most likely there is damaged wires at the steering column or the multi function (turn signal) switch is bad and needs replaced.
