1997 Toyota Previa Gear shift takes long time

Hi I have Toyota Previa 1997 Automatic transmission. When I drive the car, press the accelerator, the gear shift takes long time, rpm goes very high. But if I go easy with accelerator, it shifts easily (at low speed). Please advise me on this problem. Thx

Based on how hard you are pushing on the accellerator will determine when the transmission will shift. So, that sounds normal if you are under a heavy accelleration. If you are under a light acceleration and it takes the RPM's high, chances are there is a problem with one of the shift solenoids in the transmission.
