The car only drives for 2 mins, while it feels like there is no horse power out of the engine and then it stops moving at all. I think it might be my torque converter but i need to be sure before I start disassembling. I just went off road 2 days ago on some rough terrain.

Hi,

When this is happening, does it seem the transmission is slipping? For example, when you press on the throttle, does the engine rev and the vehicle does not speed up?

If that is the case, start by checking the transmission fluid level and condition. Here is a link that you may find helpful:

If the transmission doesn't seem to be slipping, inspect the exhaust system. You indicated going off-road. Something may have been bent or partially crushed restricting exhaust flow.

If there is no evidence of damage to the exhaust, then I suggest checking for diagnostic trouble codes that may point you in the right direction. This vehicle has an OBD 1 system and doesn't require a scan tool to retrieve codes. Follow this link and see if any are stored:

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions and what is found.

Take care,

Joe
