my 1990 toyota pickup wont start. it was running fine yesterday. i had to drive through some water and when i went out in the morning to start it it would not start

Check for spark. You can buy a tool at auto parts stores to check spark, or you can hook up an inductive timing light to a wire to see if any spark is getting to the plugs.

Take the dist.cap off and clean any water out, make sure it is dry. Check for any water in the dist. housing.

More that likely a connector is wet. If no spark, start with connections to the dist. remove them and clean with electronics cleaner, allow to dry.
You could have also blown a relay, but check the connectors first.

truck runs fine when push started. starter checks good all fuses check good. battery checks good. my next step is starter relay which i have in my hand right now

You could also take the starter out and have it checked at most autoparts store for free, if replacing the relay does not work.
