The alt brushes are worn out. While waiting for new alt, drove the p/u for a couple days and used batt charger to recharge batt when at destinations. On 3rd day the p/u started chugging along like it was hitting on 2 or 3 cyl then stopped after about a mile. The batt still had lots of charge, but when restart was attempted, the starter would only click. Turned on lights and tried to stat, the starter clicked and lights dimmed slightly but stayed quite bright.

Have you tried jumping? If batt is full charge 12.6V then solenoid is not engaging starter motor.

The battery indicator can be green and if its 12.4 and below-she won't crank over

Load test the battery and if doesn't hold up 9.6 volts in 10secs can it.
