Partially drain the cooling system. Unless the upper radiator hose is positioned over one of the thermostat housing (water outlet) bolts, it is not necessary to detach the hose. Remove the bolts and remove the water outlet. When installing a new thermostat always use a new gasket. Be sure that the thermostat is positioned with the spring down. The factory recommended thermostat temperature is 180 ° for all engines.
