Engine only starts sometimes when playing with the cables

Okay so for the pastweekor so my car has been acting up sometimes it will start right up and other times it wont but when it doesnt start up I play with the battery cables and I let it sit for about 5minutes and itll start right up. Today this occured again but no matter how many times I tired it wouldnt start up, somebody told me to make sure the cables were clean but I really need some advice on what to do and how to clean to cables. Thanks

Remove the ground cable (-) and clean the terminal and the cable. Also remove each cable that is attached to the cable, remove and clean both ends. DON'T use soda or a liquid cleaner. Do the same for both cables. A small wire brush. Pen knife or any thing to clean the surfaces and make them shiny. Good luck
