1999 Toyota Landcruiser thud

Hi Guys,
When I am going up through the gears I get a thud/smack when I release the clutch so much so I am riding the clutch to engage more smoothly. Could this be cv joints or worn splines? Or maybe more serious ! Please help.

Check your engine mounts. Have somebody watch your engine, while you have you handbrake fully pulled and engaging the clutch in second gear. If the enigne wnts to jump out of it mounting to one side, the the mounts are suspect. Have your helper stand on the side of the car and not in front! So you dont run him over if you brake is not holding :-)
