My 4wd light came on, and I checked it you can spin the rear drive shaft and the front on moves also. With the hubs unlocked it is in 2wd but the shaft still turns. How does the 4wd drive switch engage the transfer case to the 4wd and where on the case does that happen.
Thank you, Jim Batch

HI there,

The transfer is in High ratio 4 WD the switch that turns on the light is on the side of the transfer box, is yours a manual select or rush button type selector for 4X4?

HI there,

There are 2 VSV (vacuum switching Valves ) on the fire wall, they are what controls the selection of the 4 wheel drive actuator, I would think that it has selected 4X4 and a vacuum line has come off this is fairly common, check this out next.
