Gear oil drips form rear of transfer case directly below E-Brake drum. I know there is a gasket and oil seal that may need replacing. I am a fair "back yard mechanic". I have the tools. What I need to know is the procedure for R&R the output shaft seal and the module gasket. Is this a major undertaking or so, so?

HI there,

The first thing you need to check is that the seal between the gearbox & transfer is ok, often this seal leaks and gear box oil passes into the transfer, leaving the gear box low and the transfer high and causing the seals to leak. Changing the seal is not that hard, remove the tail shaft off the hand brake drum, undo the flange nut, this is staked so a new nut may be required, take off flange, and brake drum, there are 4 bolts holding the backing plate on to the transmission remove and lay brake to one side, seal is now ready to be replaced, check that the seal surface on the flange is not to grooved as if it is it will start to leak again after a short while.
