Electrical problem
1986 Toyota Cressida 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 200K+ miles

I can drive short or long distances with no problem unless I use the turn signal or otherwise put a load on the electrical system then the charge light flashes and the battery shortly runs down and dies. Don't feel a bit safe driving it.

You need to find out if your alternator is good. It is controlled by an external regulator. Usually iin the computer. Do a little more checking or have it tested by an alternator shop.L goodluck of course the usual, make sure the battery connections are good and clean. It make look clean, but remove them and clean them up. Its hard to have the turnsignal wireing short out enough to kill the alt. Power output. It should burn the wiring apart long before the alt can't keep up. You have other issues that are messing with you.
