The first time it started doing this was on the freeway it would feel like it was going to die and jerk back and forth felt like fuel starvation. Then the problem stopped for almost three weeks and then happened again when i was driving around 80 k for a longer period of time. then it stopped again afor about a week then it slowly happened all the time is getting worse and worse. i replaced the fuel filter all the cylinders are firing fine. It seemed like every time i would drive for 5 minutes and then stop and loosen the gas cap and air would come rushing out it would run a little smoother. Now it doesn't help at all when im driving it does it at lower rpms when i am pushing on the gas pedal anywhere from 1 to 75% when i push it all the way it will take off like normal. i took the fuel pump off and it seems to be working fine.

It may in fact be an electrical problem. It hasn't been affected by rain by any chance? Check all the connections at the coil. I had an old mazda with this problem, Turned out to be an lead connected to the coil that was meant for a tachometer. My model had no tach, but the wires were put there from factory. This little wire would get wet and short the coil.\

Also, check for an under bonnet kill switch. I've seen these on older cars and they can become faulty which will give the same problem
Good luck.

k i fixed part of the problem. one of the vacuum hoses came off the carb that chokes it so it was getting choiked all the time. now it does this not as extreme but when you are at around 3000 rpm and you accelerate all the way it seems to bog down and it will jerk bac and forth and accelerate very slowly
