Ingition cylinder

On my 1990 toyota corolla, the ingnition cylinder locks, so the key will not turn from the lock position. If you jiggle it just right, you can get it to turn forward, but it is very difficult. Is there anyway to brake the lock cylinder free with out replacing it. I dont mind having to start my car with a screw driver if thats what it takes, please help me bypass this problem

with the key out, give it a good squirt with WD-40. Put some on the key and work it around. It should work OK. Let me know

i had previously tried the wd40, that didnt do much of anything suprisingly.. I did manage to snap the ingition lock free with a pair of vice grips and a screw driver... it now only starts with a screw driver, but at least it starts but thanks for the advice
