High oil use and engine knock
My 2001 corolla 67K has high oil use (especially in high speed) and rattling noise problem.
The engine is pinging when started and over 60m.
The dealer said I need to chage a new engine. Dose the high oil use, engine knock and low compression justify a new engine?
Thank you.

From the ounds of your engine it has 167K instead of 67K. Something has caused the engine to fail prematuraly. I hope you cahnge dthe oil at every 3k with a good grade of oil and sued the viscocity requied. The only time I heard of that kind of engine failure was when someone used 10W40. That is abig no no.
Anyway the mechanic is right, you need a new engine. Good luck
