Grinding noise when turning

Toyota Corolla, 1990, miles 219, 859
Whenever I make left/right turns my car makes a grinding noise. I took the car in for an oil change, and the mechanic suggested this, "Half Shaft (front-left); CV5576 L REMN CV COMPL ASSY; remove & inspect axle shaft assembly, one side"

Is this what's making the grinding noise? If un-repaired, will damage occur?
Thanks!

g'day the sounds to me like the outboard cv has had it. if so it will need to be replaced. make a visual of the four rubber boots on the driveshafts at least every few months because if they deteriorate the uni or cv inside will not last very long. good luck with it :D
