98 Corolla - Dies when turn signal or lights are turned on

I have a 1998 Toyota Corolla. The car dies when the turn signal or lights are turned on. We have had a mechanic look at it, and he said that he could not find the correct diagnostic for our car. It didn't match what was in the manual. He said that sometimes, the manufacturer will change it in the middle of the year/production cycle? I think that is the way that he put it. Any idea what I might be able to do?

Are you the original owner of that car?

If not, find out who has been playing with the wiring, most likely a young person installing his/her "custom stereo system"...and not doing a very good job...i.e. cutting into wires they weren't supposed to...

If that is not the case..then I have no idea. I have never seen a component failure cause that sort of problem. There is definitely a short somewhere.

Take it to a electronics tech at a dealer.
