I put gas in my car today and after driving a little bit the check engine light came on and the rpm rev up and then drop and the car dies and acts like it does not want to restart.
Could it be bad gas? How can I tell what is wrong with it I do not think it will make it to have the codes read?

Check your gas cap and make sure it is on tight, it will set a code if not on properly.

Did you fill up (by mistake) with E85?

You can have the codes read at any autoparts store for free.

I did not fill up with e85 and already checked the gas cap. I am taking it to mechanic to find the problem. Just think it is odd that it started after I filled up with gas.

You may have filled up with some contaminated gas, and I agree there is probably a correlation.

You can remove the fuel filter drain into a clear container, and if you see two seperate liquids, then it is probably water.
