My husband told me his fan belt is going, but it sounds real bad when it is on and when he shuts off the motor, it sounds worse. Could it be the fan belt or could it be the serpintine belt. With almost hundred thousand miles.

There is no fan belt on this vehicle, the fan is electric. It may be the drive belt or it could be one of the components that the belt is driving (i.E. Power steering pump etc.) That is failing.
