Camshaft timing marks?

It is used in conjunction with the VVTi system, similar to the Honda variant VTEC.

They provide more power (lift and duration) at higher RPM.

I would not take the chance of not using it, since the system is designed for it and it would either set an error code or cause an oil starvation problem. Here are the camshaft timing marks. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

It dosen't use a belt but a chain. They can be a little noisy.
You can remove the camshaft cover and inspect it if you want. Inspect the teeth on the sprocket for wear and the chain it self for wear.
Since it is a chain, it is sealed and uses engine oil for lubrication.

The car is equipped with a chain, not a belt. There is no scheduled time or mileage to change it.

Change the waterpump if you wish, but I would not unless you see a leak.

You should change the plugs at 100K, use only the original Denso or NGK iridium.

There is no scheduled service interval for the chain.

You can remove coils and valve cover, inspect chain for missing teeth or loose chain, but generally the chain will last the life of car.

Toyota switched from belts to chains in the late 90's I believe.
The timing chain has no scheduled replacement time, so you would not need to replace it, you can take off the cam cover and inspect it if you want.

The problem you got here is you don't have a belt-what you got is a timing chain.

That depends primarly on what part of the suspension is needing replaced.

You don't have to take it to a dealer if you have local repair shops that have good reputation
