I have never done dealer recommended major service on my corolla. The only thing I have done was regular oil change plus brake pad replacement and serpentine belt replacement.

I do not have any problem with the car at the moment.

Having said above, what would you recommend servicing on this vehicle? Transmission fluid change and oil change? Anything else? How much is the reasonable amount to spend on these services? Should I take it to toyota dealer or other local mechanic? I am in Houston, TX area.

Also, do I need to change timing belt on 2004 toyota corolla? If so when and how much would it cost?

Thank you so much in advance!

Check your owners manual for service requirements.

Generally oil/filter is all you need to do, and drain and flush cooling system.
I would have Toyota or trusted garage do cooling system. Toyota uses a coolant called Toyota Red.

You car has a timing chain, and does not need maint.

Thanks for quick response and suggestions mmprince4000.

Other than cooling service, do you think it is necessary to change transmission fluid at this mileage or should I wait until 90K? I checked transmission fluid yesterday, and it is red/pink still ... not dark yet.

Thanks again!

You should always follow owners manual, unless you tow a trailer of some sort.
