Noises problem

Our car is used by different members of the household. The main user always leaves the car parked with the steering wheel fully locked to the left, usually overnight since 2005. I suspect that this has resulted in strange noises heard most often when turning right but also sometimes when turning left. Can parking like this persistently result in more serious damage? If so, what type of damage and would it be expensive to repair? Many thanks.
