I take my car for routine maintenance religiously and I have noticed the fact that my rotors at the front are being replaced every three years while my rear rotors have never been replaced.

Please let me know whether rotor change every three years is considered average. I know the wear and tear are based on the use, weather and driving conditions. I would like to know whether I am being taken for a drive.

Also, when my car is stopped, I hear a clicking noice coming from the front and it stops few seconds afterwards. Is this something to do with the Engine coming to a stop?

Thank you vour response. It is very much appreciated.

Hi there, brake rotors are replaced normally when they are below min thickness, some mechanics can be a bit over eager to machine rotors with each brake change and this will drastically reduce rotor life, as for the rears, the rear brakes only do a small proportion of the braking so they will last a very long time. As for the clicking noise i would have the drive shafts inspected for excessive wear.

Many times it depends on the quality of parts used and there is a difference.
The brake job should include, pads, machine rotors (unless below min. thickness), check caliper slides for binding, new hardware kit.
Rotor life also is greatly influenced by driving habits, riding brakes etc.
