mY CAR IS TAKING A QT. OF OIL EVERY 300 MILES. HAVE HAD THIS CHECKED BY MECHANIC AND THEY REPLACED EGR AND PCV VALVE WHICH THEY THOUGHT WAS THE PROBLEM. THIS HAS NOT HELPED.COMPRESSION TEST WAS GOOD.DOES NOT SMOKE BUT BLACK BUILD UP ON REAR OF CAR BY THE BUMPER.ANY SUGGESTIONS?

It is either leaking it or burning it.

Check for leaks first. If compresion is good, it may be the valve stem seals.

I would also have a leak down test performed, this will tell you if rings, valve seals are worn.

Also remove O2 sensor, plugs and check for oil fouling.
