My girlfriend drove to her sister's house and had no problems at all. When she tried to leave the car wouldn't start and had no power to it at all. Even trying to jump the car failed. Her brother in law looked at it and said he checked the battery and it was okay but it's not getting power to anything. He thought it might be a fuse or something. Any ideas on what I should look at?

First start at the source, the battery. Make sure the battery terminals are clean, tight, and not corroded. Also, check to make sure there is no damage to the cables from the battery. Next, make sure the ground to the engine block is clean and tight.

I need you to check one more thing. I believe on this year, there is a power distribution box under the hood that contains a main fuse for the entire electrical system. Check for that and its condition.

Let me know what you find.

Winner winner chicken dinner! I guess he didn't check the battery as well as he thought. It was a loose battery terminal. Tightened it up and was on my way. Thanks!

When I was in school, one of my shop teachers, an old Italian man, was very specific. When you have any type of electrical problem, always start at the power source, the battery. He was a great teacher, teriffic person, and one of the best mechanics I ever knew. He has passed away, but everything he taught me, I remember. I think he would be happy that we found this problem and in his own way, look at me and say, "Ia told youa so." LOL.

Always keep that in mind.

Take care of yourself, thanks for using 2carpros.com, and let us know if you have questions in the future.
