1996 Toyota Corolla overheating

1996 Toyota Corolla 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive 130000 miles

runs cool, after a few minutes runs extremely hot. recently changed water pump,radiator and fan was not coming on so changed fan switch now it comes on and still overheats even with heater on. what could be the problem

are you certain temperature gauge is accurate? is the coolant boiling or are there any other signs of actual overheating?

if it IS overheating, check thermostat to make certain it is opening.

if it IS NOT actually overheating, suspect faulty engine coolant temperature sensor
