What is causing this. The water pump is moving the water through the engine

1.Maybe your heater control valve is defective. The heater control valve controls the flow of the hot coolant (water) that is entering to the heater core. 2.Is the cable that is hooked on the heater control valve moving when you turn the knob in the dashboard to hot - cool position? 3. heater core maybe clogged
