My moms 93 corolla with automatic sometimes gets stuck in park. With some patience and pressing the brake pedal and wiggling the shifter it will release and away she goes. I've heard about the override switch but being that my mom is an elderly woman I'd rather fix the problem than have her using paper clips and pens to move her car.

spray some wd 40 or similar on the contact you have behind the brake pedal. that is the switch that releases the shifter.
I would also spray it in the shifting mecjanism( where the cable goes to the at transmission( right where the cable ends)I would also put some grease on it to lubricate it and protect it from corrosion.
hope this helps.
