1992 Toyota Corolla rear tail light

My rear taillight on one side burns brighter than the other when the lights are on. This causes premature failure of the light bulb. Any ideas?

Sounds like a weak ground. Inspect the unit paying carefull attention to wires that screw to the housing, looking for any corrosion or shorted areas. Sometimes the screws will work loose or the plastic will crack.
