I just pulled out the distibutor on this car because it has been idle-ing rough, knocking while going up steep hills, and has a loss of power. this engine was rebuilt about 3 years ago. when I pulled out the distributor, I expected the rotor shaft to turn smoothly, but instead it has a jerky feel to it, as if there were bad bearings, is this jerky motion normal, and if not, what can I do??

Last major tune-up?

The jerky is normal-Do this at the check connector jumper Te-1 to E-1 and check the ignition timing should be 10deg BTDC if not adjust the timing and idle speed to 750rpm. The knocking noise could be that the engine is detonating/spark knock-

Rough idle -check the idle air control valve/EGR valve and throttle position sensor to include the MAF sensor.
