My 1989 corolla is leaking what appears to be gear lube fluid inside on the drivers side. It seems to be coming to coming from wherever the speedo cable connects under the dash. The speedometer is working fine. Will a clogged transmission vent cause this to happen. And if so, where is the vent located, how do I identify it, and how do I unclog it?

What other things would cause thiis problem?
(i.E. Bad speedometer cable, )

Thank You

Hi there,

The vent is on top of the transmission body, it looks like a small cap. I would be checking for an over full transmission and a faulty speedo seal. The oil is passing the seal and being drawn up the drive as it turns.
