1978 Toyota Corolla Charging System Enigma

2TC engine, car runs great. A few years ago, charging light AND brake light came on. Took to dealership. Somehow remedied problem by charging for 2 hours diagnostic and replacing 'engine fuse'.

System worked for a long time, and then same thing happened. Charge light AND brake light back on.
I thought, 'ah hah, engine fuse'. Engine fuse is fine, every fuse I can find in car is fine. We tried new alternators, I think we went thru 3 or 4. Result stayed the same. Had someone check alternator while vehicle was running, . It was putting out voltage.

Took to garage once more, but they couldn't find the problem as they had thrown away all manuals for those year cars. No wiring diagrams available. At least they didn't charge me to tell me that.

So. Any ideas. I figure bad connection between someplace. But where most likely?

I am having the exact same problem with my 78 corrolla. One other symptom I noticed when this occurred was that the automatic choke also stopped working properly and the engine would not come off of the choke.
