I have a '98 toyota Celica GT 2.2 L. When I step on the gas, the engine will not rev past 5,000 rpm, it just stays there. It idles smooth and runs great until I floor it and it wont exceed 5, 00 rpm's. Ant ideas as to what is wrong?

Hi lingham,

Thank you for the donation.

There are a few possibilities for the symptoms described. Did the Check Engine Lamp show while driving?

1. Faulty sensors, could be out of adjustment Throttle position sensor, MAP or any of the vasious sensors.
2. Fuel supply is insufficient.
3. Faulty ECM.
4. Throttle cable out of adjustment.

I would suggest getting a scan done to retrieve Freeze-Frame data.
